Lost in the Waves was inspired by my recent stay in Nice, on the French Riviera. Watching people swimming in the Mediterranean and throwing themselves into the waves, I was fascinated by those moments of pure freedom and spontaneity.
 
There is something almost magical about the way people forget everything when they enter the sea. They jump into the waves, let themselves be carried by the water, laugh, disappear beneath the surface and emerge again. For a moment, they seem to lose themselves completely in the euphoria of the sea.
 
Through layers of blue and white, I wanted to capture this feeling of movement, freedom and abandon, that instant when the body becomes part of the water and everything else seems to disappear.
