ARTIST STATEMENT

Les Baigneuses is a new series inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, the French Riviera, and the timeless relationship between the human body, the sun and the sea.

 

Since moving to the French Riviera, the Mediterranean has become an even stronger presence in my life and in my work. I feel deeply connected to its light, its colors, its energy, and the sense of freedom that comes from living close to the sea.

 

In this series, I explore the figure of the bather through different moments — swimming, floating or diving into the water, but also walking along the shore, resting on the beach, lying under the sun or simply contemplating the horizon.

 

The figures sometimes merge with the movement of the sea and sometimes become part of the landscape itself. Through their bodies, gestures and silhouettes, I want to capture those simple moments when time seems to slow down and everyday life is left behind.

 

Blue is the soul of the series.

 

Deep Mediterranean blues, turquoise and softer aquatic shades are combined with sea greens, sandy beiges and delicate pastel tones inspired by the colors and light of the South of France.

 

Through spontaneous lines, overlapping forms and layers of color, Les Baigneuses is my interpretation of Mediterranean life — its warmth, its sensuality, its freedom and its light.

 

It is a series about the human body, the sea and the sun, but above all, about the feeling of escape and freedom that exists at the edge of the Mediterranean.
